If you would like to work in Italy, becoming an au pair could be the ideal opportunity for you to experience a new culture while staying in the home of an Italian host family.
We are partnered with an Italian au pair agency, which means you will receive full support throughout your placement. All host families are screened by our partner agency and are required to provide background information and checks prior to welcoming an au pair into their home.
Host families in Italy will supply au pairs with accommodation, food and pocket money in return for childcare and light housework.
The au pair will undertake light household chores on behalf of the children. Usually, this will be approximately one hour per day to keep the house tidy.
How many hours per week will I work as an au pair in Italy?
Au pairs in Italy will usually work between 20 and 35 hours per week for up to 6 days per week, including 2-3 evenings babysitting per week. Most families will request 5 or 5.5 days per week.
The au pair will receive one paid holiday week every six months spent with the family, which will be agreed with the family in advance.
What will I earn as an au pair in Italy?
The au pair is paid pocket money of between €60 and €110 per week. The amount you are paid will be agreed in advance.

In addition to pocket money, the family might also include extra benefits for their au pair, including paying for bus tickets, offering an Italian SIM card with a prepaid amount of money, and a national card for contacting members of their own family. They may also offer a completion bonus (payable at the end of the placement) or contribute towards the fees of your Italian language course.
